Don’t look away. Don’t tolerate it. Report it!

We are here for you. We want to prevent behaviour that negatively affects our employees and our residents and take a firm stance against sexist behaviour and sexual harassment.

Dr Holger Horrmann, Managing Director of GDA
“It requires a lot of effort to report sexual harassment that you have experienced or observed.
Therefore, our “STOP” report system also enables you to submit anonymous reports and still, whilst receiving personal protection, make use of some initial support from our trust counsel.
I would like to encourage you to use this service. If we work together, we can prevent mistreatment and ensure there are consequences. Please rest assured that consequences for harassment are in place throughout the entire company, regardless of the role of the offender in our organisation.
I have a zero-tolerance approach to this, including in my role as the managing director at GDA.”

Sexual harassment is predominantly about demonstrating power. This includes verbal comments, e.g. an offensive joke or hurtful remarks. Typical forms of harassment also include non-verbal behaviours, e.g. excessive proximity or looks that make others uncomfortable. This also includes physical malpractice, for example ranging from seemingly minor touches to the chest, seat area or genitals to forms of sexual harassment.

It may not always be easy to tell the difference between “flirting” and “sexual harassment”. However, a decisive factor is how the individual who is affected, i.e. the victim, perceives the action in question.

Protecting you is our highest priority. You decide for yourself whether you wish to provide your name or if you would prefer to talk anonymously to our long-established trust counsel, Wolfgang Lindner, a former detective constable of the state of Lower Saxony. The incident you describe will always be communicated completely anonymously. The platform is set up so that your information cannot be traced by anything or anyone. However, we must also inform you that an anonymous report without the possibility of us asking you follow-up questions cannot be pursued. Therefore, if you do not want to provide your name or contact details, please set up a secured postbox at the end of the reporting process. You are guaranteed full anonymity when communicating with the trust counsel through this postbox and can respond to further questions from the trust counsel.

Please also use any form of support that GDA offers, independent of this platform – such as through our works council or the human resources department of GDA headquarters.

It is only with your support that we can take a stance against sexist behaviour and sexual harassment in the work environment together, so: Thank you for your help! Also on behalf of other GDA employees and residents.
